Belarus marks the principal international holiday of snow.
The holiday featured competitions in ski races, hockey, snow and ice sculptures. Sport and entertainment events were held in over 100 towns of the country. A holiday of snow took place at ski resort Silichi, where a unique half pipe was unveiled. (Ludmila Pasternakevich, director of ski resort Silichi: "Fresh air and active sport helps people to adopt an active life position".) Over 2.5 thousand people attended the holiday. Competitions and various performances were organized for the visitors. Even the Minister of Sport came to take part in a skiing race. (Alexander Shamko, the Belarusian Minister of Sport and Tourism) In Brest the festivities were held at the Rowing Canal.
