God the Father is telling us to become like Him, wed wonder the way we could be like Him, and walk in holiness as his Word tells us to. And walk in love, as Christ even offers loved us and given Himself for many people, an offering any sacrifice to God for the sweet-smelling aroma. But fornication and all of uncleanness or covetousness, allow it to go not even be named among you, out of the box fitting for saints . 4.

creative ideas - How To Be Inspired To Generate Extraordinary Ideas

How do we generate ideas? The means is classified into two; the ordinary process and the extraordinary process. If you are going to get new ideas, it is essential that you eradicate negative thinking from your mind. You will not be able to produce creative ideas if you think negatively. All of the body functions, including the brain, are controlled by words.

Scientists discovered several years ago that the nerves at the speech centre of the brain control the nerves that control all the other parts of the body. So when a word is spoken, the whole body responds accordingly. Negative speech and negative thinking are major reasons why some people will not receive the ideas that will launch them into breakthrough because their mind cannot nurture creative ideas.

Sometimes we do not attempt great things for lack of money. If only we knew that it is the quality of ideas that flow through out mind that matters. Ideas magnetize resources. We must never say that things are impossible. The great French General, Napoleon once declared "The word ?impossible' can only be found in the dictionary of fools".

In reality, nothing is impossible, impossibility only exists In the mind. I will recommend the following steps for receiving ideas. Natural Process: Identify a need: Find a need and fill it. The problem with the average person is that our inner eyes are closed. One man's problem is another man's opportunity. Some people only see the problem and never see the opportunity. For example, people need to wear clothes, make the clothes.

We love to sing and dance; that creates the need for music and musical instrument. We need to get ideas to meet the variety of needs around us. We have need with respect to housing, transportation, communication, recreation, feeding, information and many more.

Simplify an existing process or products: For example, cables have been used for telephone but now we do not need cables. Someone got the idea for a wireless phone system. Wires have been used to send signals from security cameras to the monitors, but now there are wireless cameras. Create a need: Before, man used only water to entertain visitors but now we use soft drinks. Exposure: Reading, traveling and asking questions helps to arrange and re-arrange thoughts in our mind.

Supernatural Process: All the methods in the ordinary process use the five senses. But with respect to extraordinary process, we receive information from the invisible realm. The greatest ideas that man will ever know are the ones coming from the invisible realm.

We must cultivate our minds and faculties to be able to receive from that realm. Some have called it the sixth sense. Some called it intuition. In the church it is called the voice of the spirit. It is the ability to receive what the five senses cannot know.

One man?s problem is another man?s opportunity. Find the need and fill it. Read books, travel and ask questions. Take a bold step and click on this link: http://6da6e9fllw3e6o7ryewso0fcvh.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=VH5ZXTS6 and you?ll find one of such extraordinary and timeless books ever known to man

Can you train yourself to be an optimist?

Catherine de Lange, contributor

Rainy-Brain---jacket.jpgCognitive psychologist Elaine Fox from the University of Essex, UK, explores the ways in which we can retrain our brains to view the world with a positive outlook in her book Rainy Brain, Sunny Brain. New Scientist asked her why some people see the glass as half empty, and what techniques science offers us to change that perspective.

What makes someone more prone to optimism or a pessimism?
At the very core of who we are are cognitive biases, ways of processing the information in the world around us that are automatically going on outside of our awareness. So some people are tuning in to negative information at a very subtle level and other people are tuning into positive information.

Do we do this all the time?
Yes. If you walk into a room and people laugh and then say "Hello", somebody who is socially anxious will think that people are laughing at them, and will make some negative interpretation. Someone else might think, ?They?re pleased to see me?. So the same information can be interpreted in quite different ways. That?s something quite fundamental and it leads to the longer term states of your mindset.

So these biases predispose us to having a particular outlook - but where do they come from in the first place?
We know that we aren?t born into the world as blank slates - we already have some tendencies, and fear and pleasure are great motivators. When we come into the world our brain automatically tunes into things that might harm us or benefit us, and there are individual differences to how people respond. We know that there are different genes and chemical systems involved in pleasure and fear responses.

Are we born destined to become either optimists or pessimists?
No, quite the opposite. Genes are involved in that, but it?s how genes and the environment come together that determines these brain states. One thing that?s come out of the research is that these brain circuits that underlie our mindsets are highly malleable. There are even techniques that can shift these brain circuits. So I wouldn?t say we are born to be optimistic or pessimistic and never change -I think we are born with certain tendencies to react in certain ways. For instance, some people go through all sorts of things and just seem to bounce back. So these fundamental differences do seem to lead to fundamental differences in resilience.

What kind of evidence is there for this idea?
One bias we can study in the lab is attention bias. We use a computer and flash up a pair of images, for example a snake and a rabbit - one is a threat and one is not. After the images flash up - just for 20 milliseconds so people aren?t consciously aware of what the pictures are - they have to press a button when they see a target on the screen. After about 1000 of these trials, you find slight differences in reaction speed. Negative people tend to report the target faster if it comes up on the same side as the negative image, suggesting they paid more attention to it. At the end of the session we present them with a test, and the research finds that people who have a negative bias tend to show a stronger stress response than people who have a positive bias.

What?s so good about being optimistic anyway?
The research shows that, as long as they are realists too, people who have an optimistic mindset and feel like they are able to cope when things do go wrong benefit in all sorts of ways. The evidence is also quite strong now that an optimistic mindset is beneficial for our health. People with optimistic mindsets are also more successful in business, and seem to live longer.

Could it not be that people who are successful and healthy are more optimistic? Presumably there are lots of people who failed in business even though they were optimistic but aren?t around to tell the tale?
Lab based research does show that optimistic people are more persistent. In one study, people were rated on their level of pessimism or optimism and then were given anagrams to do, some of which were impossible. People who were optimistic stayed significantly longer trying to do the impossible anagrams - so they didn?t give up - that?s good experimental evidence.

So is a pessimist like me just doomed to failure?
No. One of the things I?ve been researching are cognitive bias modification procedures - experimental techniques where we use computers to induce different biases in people in the lab. You can take somebody with a neutral bias and then induce either a positive or negative bias temporarily, and we can see that that actually changes people?s emotional vulnerability. That demonstrates that these biases are playing a causal role in both vulnerability and in resilience. And training people to zone in on the positive or negative images over time can shift these biases.

So you can train your brain to be more optimistic?
Yes - and that?s the kind of research we?re doing now. We need to get a lot more information but one of the nice things about these techniques is that they can be implemented over the internet or even on smart phones. There was a big study in Harvard recently where people used smart phones for a few minutes a day to train these biases. The early research is very encouraging in suggesting that these techniques shift people's mindsets in a fundamental way that should lead to positive changes.

Have you been apprehensive that the primary group mentoring sessions will prove dreary and uninteresting? Very well, it?s not necessary to when you bring these measures into consideration:

Start off the session through an ice cubes-crusher. This can be something which I enjoy do. Whenever you enter a place with others that don?t know the other person, it?s career in order that they may get acquainted and therefore they may heat up speedy. This can be a critical to make certain they can be more responsive and a lot more warn as soon as you start your business presentation. Imagine a wonderful ice cubes-breaker your customers will like. Choose based upon their account as well as their inclinations. Once I got my customers to perform charades with motion picture subject as being the concept and they stood a blast. There is enough electrical power over the treatment understanding that something which truly reduced the problem.

Second step is to discuss the agenda on the session. It is suggested that you simply do a list of these subjects that you will deal with and also the objectives from the treatment before you?ll fulfill your visitors. Then, look at this prior to starting coaching them. Demonstrate each item in a easy to understand method. Then, check with your prospects whether they have had everything to bring. Then, examine the aim of the period. As an example, you can easily say Innext program, you can publish convincing adverts for ones PPC campaign.Inches Also, your customers knows just what exactly they are able to expect you?ll get.

Business presentation. Continually take advantage of electricity factor along with other image anchor bolts in your powerpoint presentation. Providing your delegates something to think about to would actually assist them to take in the content that you are handing out much quicker. It will also help you create your procedure prepared. By using electric power point by way of example, you can be sure that you will not neglect faa rengoeringshjaelp to debate some things.

Help it become vibrant. You should not seem like a well used, uninteresting mentor from college or university if not, your potential clients will medication dosage of prior to you finish 1 / 2 your strength level presentation. Be encouraging all the time. In truth, I propose that you make use of your good spontaneity to help keep your customers from sleeping. Also, stimulate contribution. By asking questions every once in awhile.

Promote palms-on exercise. There are actually just things that other folks won?t have the ability to master as a result of business presentation or chats by itself so hands-on train will be essential. As an example, but if your teaching men and women tips on how to boost their keyboarding knowledge, it is really crucial for you to get them to apply.

Ending the session with question and remedy segment. Request customers to save their concerns for later on to help you give attention to your display andPeror hands and wrists-on apply. Prior to conclusion the treatment, handle all these inquiries and make sure that you supply the most effective solutions. It can be a smart idea to be expecting all the questions you?ll get so you organize them before you match your potential customers. Remember that, you dont want to get stuck away from-covered.

Enhance Your Fitness Routine with Quality Bodybuilding Supplements

Do you think your fitness routine is enough to get you in shape? Are you under the mistaken belief that you can just go burn off at the gym any type of food you put in your body and that you will build muscle? If you have answered yes to both of these questions you are wrong! Fitness goes beyond just exercising. It involves eating a balanced diet, sleeping enough each night to recoup your energy, taking various bodybuilding supplements (these are especially important to help build muscle mass), and working out regularly.

Eating a Balanced Diet

All the foods groups are important for your body to be able to participate in and get the most from a fitness routine, you can?t just depend on bodybuilding supplements. Low-fat dairy helps you have strong bones for the calcium it supplies.

Lean protein gives your body important amino acids that simulate muscle growth. Muscles do not get larger without protein no matter how hard you workout in your fitness routine. Complex carbohydrates provide you energy. Healthy oils help your body assimilate the fat-soluble vitamins and aid the digestive processes in the body. Supplements can be taken, but not in place of the foods listed only along with them, more these later.

Sleeping Enough Each Night to Recoup Energy

You must sleep enough each night to recoup the energy you have used during the day. Most people need at least 8 hours a sleep at night. You sleep this many hours each night you are bound to have plenty of energy the next day, as long as you are also eating healthy. You can't stay up all night and run all day effective, also participating in your fitness routine will be more difficult when you are not well rested.

Bodybuilding Supplements

To bolster up your body, take bodybuilding supplements on top of eating healthy. This will allow your body to have all the necessary nutrients to build strong muscles. You will also develop more muscle mass than you would just depending on the food you eat. It is difficult to consume enough protein in food alone for you to get the total benefit out of your fitness routine. Whey protein supplements help to give you the additional protein needed to build muscles. Other bodybuilding supplements you can take are such things as multivitamins, glutamine, and creatine just to mention some of them.

Your Fitness Routine

On top of everything else mentioned here, you have to participate in your fitness routine on a regular basis to get and stay in shape. Sure, it is all right to take a day off here and there to rest your muscles, but you should have a regular schedule for your physical activity. Without this, the bodybuilding supplements, eating healthy or resting will not accomplish as many results.

Remember, it takes a combination of all these things to get and stay in shape. No one thing by itself will bring you true fitness. Your body has to be overall healthy through nutrition, rest, bodybuilding supplements and exercise. Start today by putting these all together for your body.

(AP Photo/Mohammad Sajjad)

(AP) ? The family of the Pakistani doctor sentenced to 33 years in prison for helping the United States track down Osama bin Laden said Monday the man is innocent and dismissed his trial as a sham.

The conviction of Shakil Afridi last week added another pressure point in Pakistan's already fractured relationship with the U.S. Senior American officials have urged Pakistan to release the doctor, and regard him as a hero who worked to stop the terrorist leader. Islamabad views Afridi as a traitor who colluded with a foreign intelligence agency in an illegal operation on Pakistani soil.

Afridi ran a vaccination campaign on behalf of the CIA to collect blood samples of bin Laden's family at a compound in Abbottabad where U.S. commandos killed the al-Qaida leader in May 2011. The samples were intended to help the U.S. match the family's DNA to verify his presence in the garrison city.

Afridi's older brother Jamil and two lawyers representing the doctor said at a news conference in the frontier city of Peshawar that they will appeal the verdict, which was handed down last week in a tribal court whose proceedings were never made public.

"This was a one-sided decision," said Jamil. "All allegations against him are false. He didn't do anything against the national interest."

Afridi was tried under the Frontier Crimes Regulations, the set of laws that govern Pakistan's semiautonomous tribal region. The FCR doesn't allow suspects to have legal representation, present material evidence or cross-examine witnesses. Verdicts are handled by a government official in consultation with a council of elders, instead of by a judge.

The raid by American commandos infuriated Pakistani officials who were not told ahead of time or of the CIA operation in their country to track him down. Afridi was arrested in the weeks after the raid. He was convicted and sentenced last week for conspiring against the state.

The lawyers said authorities have not given them documents related to the case, including a copy of the verdict.

Afridi's brother said the doctor had an American visa and pointed out that he stayed in Pakistan after the bin Laden raid for 20 days, and didn't leave the country.

"Had he been guilty, he would have escaped," Jamil Afridi said.

He did not comment on whether he thought his brother should have helped the U.S.

The case puts the family in a delicate situation. Anti-American sentiment is widespread in Pakistan, and people who are viewed as supporting the U.S. or working for Washington are sometimes targeted by militants, especially in the tribal areas.

In his first comments on Afridi's conviction, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani called Afridi's actions "wrong" but said he had the right to a fair trial.

"He should be given a right to justice," Gilani said in an interview to Geo TV to be broadcast Monday night. Asked how would he could get justice, Gilani said, "through the normal courts."

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta on Sunday criticized Pakistan over Afridi's conviction and sentencing, calling it "disturbing."

U.S.-Pakistani relations plummeted to new lows in November, when American airstrikes inadvertently killed 24 Pakistani soldiers, prompting Islamabad to block U.S. and NATO supply lines into Afghanistan.

Pakistan has demanded an apology over the raid and an end to drone strikes against militants along the Afghan border as a precursor to reopening the supply lines.

The U.S. has shown no sign of stopping the covert CIA attacks, which have picked up pace this week after a lull for most of the year. The latest attack came late Sunday and killed five suspected Islamist militants in North Waziristan region, Pakistani officials said Monday. The identities of the dead were not known, but the region is home to al-Qaida militants and insurgents fighting in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The attack was the fourth in less than a week.

FEATURE-Parma mayor becomes Italy's most-watched politician

Sun May 27, 2012 4:00am EDT

* Pizzarotti's win dealt stunning blow to traditional parties

* Hails from comic Beppe Grillo's Five-Star Movement

By Silvia Aloisi

PARMA, Italy, May 27 (Reuters) - Federico Pizzarotti was an unknown, 38-year-old computer technician at a bank until a few weeks ago. Just four days after being elected the mayor of Parma, he has become the most-watched political figure in Italy.

Pizzarotti's leap to fame comes thanks to the grassroots Five-Star Movement, led by comedian Beppe Grillo, which dealt a stunning blow to the parties that have governed Italy for the past two decades in this month's local elections.

Pizzarotti has astonished observers of the Italian political scene by emerging from obscurity to become the first Five-Star candidate to run one of the country's major cities.

The movement, which was created just three years ago and relies extensively on the Internet, has become the country's second most popular party with more than 18 percent support and more than half of Italians would consider voting for it, according to opinion polls.

"Two weeks ago, nobody knew who I was. I feel quite a bit of weight on my shoulders, everybody is watching us," Pizzarotti told Reuters in an interview in a frescoed chamber in Parma's 15th-century town hall.

The success of the protest movement reflects a Europe-wide trend seen from Greece to Germany as the economic crisis has eroded the standing of traditional political parties, blamed for the worst downturn since World War Two.

Like the Northern League 20 years ago, the Five-Star Movement is gaining momentum in Italy's economic heartland in the north. Parma, famous for Parmesan cheese and cured ham, is one of the region's most prosperous cities, and home to almost 190,000 people.

In blue jeans, tennis shoes and a purple sweater, Pizzarotti still seems uncomfortable with media attention, unlike the movement's founder, Grillo, who makes full use of the limelight to blast a scandal-prone elite that has overseen more than a decade of economic stagnation in Italy.

Grillo has also tapped into growing unease with austerity measures and recession by attacking Prime Minister Mario Monti's government of technocrats, which created 24 billion euros ($30 billion) in new taxes this year alone.

Something like an Italian Michael Moore, Grillo's language is irreverent and outlandish. He uses the most vulgar Italian swear words without hesitation, and awards his political rivals colourful nicknames.

Monti is "Rigor Montis," and former Premier Silvio Berlusconi is the "psycho-midget". Italy's established parties are dead, he says, and their leaders are "zombies, vampires, mummies".

The bear-like Grillo, who sports a beard and a mop of tangled white hair, says Italy should dump the euro, devalue the lira, and force foreign banks to accept debt payments - at a loss - in the new currency.

The baby-faced Pizzarotti does not look like Grillo and does not sound like Grillo.

As mayor, his biggest challenge will be managing Parma's 600-million-euro ($750 million) debt, and he will probably need to negotiate with banks Grillo usually derides as the root of the crisis.

"One should not demonise banks. They have a fundamental role in everybody's life," Pizzarotti said.

Pizzarotti chooses his words carefully and does not swear. Instead of attacking rivals, he talks about finding "common ground". He sidesteps the question of the euro, saying he is not an economist.

"We do different jobs," Pizzarotti said of the movement's leader. "He's our loudspeaker, he shakes up people's consciences. He is like a plough that shifts the earth. We are the ones planting the seeds."

"During the campaign, some people told me they didn't like Grillo. I told them that Grillo is not coming to govern here. I am," he said.

FROM MOVEMENT TO PARTY

The change has brought a minor revolution to the familiar cast of middle-aged and elderly men who dominate Italian politics but not everyone is convinced.

"I am puzzled. Parma has a lot of problems. It's good to see all these new, clean faces but you need experienced people to run a city," said bar owner Maria Enrica Galli.

Grillo refuses to call the movement a party, and bans his candidates from going on TV talk shows. The Internet, his blog and social networks are the movement's main means of communication.

It accepts no public campaign financing, unlike the millions of euros pocketed by the established parties every year, funding itself instead from the proceeds of Grillo's stand up shows, and sales of books, videos and T shirts. Pizzarotti spent just over 6,000 euros ($7,500) on his entire campaign.

But with national elections looming early next year and Italy still dangerously enmeshed in the euro zone crisis, the Five Star Movement will come under increasing scrutiny as it seeks to convert its local success to the national stage.

"Grillo and his people have a big job ahead, because a grassroots movement is one thing, but it's quite another thing to organise a real party," said James Walston, a political analyst at the American University in Rome.

"Where there is the smell of power, all sorts of people come out of the woodwork and they will have to work very carefully to maintain their purity," he said.

What is clear is that the thirty-somethings who make up the political bloc have a lot to learn.

In fact, Pizzarotti and his 19 council members are taking a crash course on administrative law from local professors, starting on Thursday, and he has put up an ad on Grillo's blog seeking an experienced administrator.

"We're looking for a person with experience managing the mechanics of city government to be director general as soon as possible. No criminal record, not tied to traditional parties, with proven competence," the ad read, inviting email resumes.

Even handling the time demands of his new job is a challenge for Pizzarotti. As he spoke in the interview, his wife Cinzia kept interrupting.

"We're running late. We've got loads to do. You need to learn to manage your time," she said.

Cowgirl tennis qualifies for NCAA tournament

A small room erupted in celebration in Gallagher-Iba on Tuesday evening, for the OSU women?s tennis team received the news that its season would continue.

Coach Chris Young and his team huddled around a large screen TV to hear their name announced as one of the 64 teams that will compete in the NCAA Women?s Tennis Team Tournament.

?I?m really excited for the girls,? Young said. ?When I came here three years ago, I knew the challenges that were ahead of us. Today is the culmination of three years of hard work and determination, and it?s great for the girls.?

The Cowgirls will face Georgia Tech in the first round, a welcomed opponent.

?I knew that we would be right there playing a team that is pretty even with us,? Young said. ?We have seen them quite a bit. When you have some familiarity for an opponent, it helps us prepare for the moment.?

The Cowgirls? first match in the single-elimination tournament will be May 11, and Young said his team would be well prepared.

?I have experience in this, understanding how the schedule works out this first week will be tricky with finals, but after this week my experience will help them make the transition to post season,? Young said.

Junior C. C. Sardinha anticipated the reward of a postseason, and her hopes built up going into the selection show.

?We are pumped,? Sardinha said. ?There were hints that we would get in. It was just nice to finally hear it.?

Sardinha echoed the confidence that the Cowgirls are taking into the postseason and gave a glimpse of what has been behind the team?s success this season.

?We will play Stanford, UCLA, anyone; bring it on,? she said.

If the Cowgirls knock down their first three opponents, they could face UCLA in the quarterfinals, but that is a long way off.

Malika Rose, a junior for the Cowgirls, said the team is focused on the task at hand.

?We had this goal at the beginning of the year, but we didn?t think it was that close,? Rose said. ?We just want to take it one match at a time and focus on our advantage in the doubles matchups.?

Credit Union Law...

[US banking law filter] So my credit union 'forces' me to deposit checks, payable to me, into a savings deposit account (share deposit account), rather than my checking account. I'm not sure they should be doing this. Lots of gory details inside....

The tellers just state this as a matter of policy when I try to deposit a check into checking instead. The mandatory or 'forced' deposit to savings stipulation (and i think this is important) isn't mentioned in any of the credit union disclosure documents.

The credit union has slapped a '15 day hold' (wtf?) on the fund instrument I just deposited -- a high quality check, issued payable through the Bank of New York (a Federal Reserve Bank.) I maintain the funds should have been available 'next business day' because of the Federal Reserve Bank 'exception' as afforded by Regulation CC of the expedited Funds Availability Act.

Credit union is claiming exemption under Regulation D (based on stipulation 'savings deposit account' doesn't pass test as a 'transactional account') -- as a result they claim, Reg CC statutes don't apply to savings deposit accounts. So isn't that neat as a button?

This neatly circumvents all rights afforded by Regulation CC of the Expedited Funds Availability Act.

I've familiarized myself with Regulation CC (and Reg D.)

Can they force me to deposit into one account rather than another without mentioning it in a disclosure and, if not -- is that sufficient grounds for complaint to the appropriate regulatory bodies? (I have the 'appropriate' list.)

Do I have grounds for a complaint to the appropriate regulatory bodies for some regulatory violation?

Do I really have no protection as would normally be afforded by Regulation CC in this outline? --

Their Funds Availability Policy Disclosure document (a hand typed one-sheet dated -- 1993 -- that I had to request four times), mentions the Federal Reserve Bank exemption but makes no mention of it applying only to checking accounts.

I have tried to negotiate a release of the hold with no success. No reason given. (Yes, I know -- that's a violation of regulations, too.)

It's a rather provincial group I'm dealing with. Lastly my attitude has been unimpeachable in my dealings over this issue. I cannot say the same for the bank representatives. Qualified input appreciated.

Myanmar power protests put government to the test

BANGKOK (AP) ? Protests this past week in Myanmar over persistent power shortages have provided a test of how the country's elected but military-backed government will respond to rising expectations sparked by democratic reforms.

Small demonstrations in Myanmar's two largest cities and several towns could be seen as an indicator of the new openness under President Thein Sein, who has overseen the country's emergence from decades of authoritarian rule and diplomatic isolation.

From another point of view, the protests, which have been peaceful and limited in size and scope, serve as a reminder of the early stages of past unrest ? small affairs sparked by complaints over the economy that snowballed into large-scale challenges to authority.

In 2007, the former military regime used force to put down the so-called Saffron Revolution led by Buddhist monks. That rebellion began as small, localized protests over fuel price hikes.

"Protests like this in Myanmar always have the potential to escalate and lead to political unrest," said Trevor Wilson, a former Australian envoy to Myanmar who now teaches at Australian National University. "It is hard to predict how these protests might develop."

Thein Sein was prime minister of the military government, but shed his formal links with the army to run with its proxy political party in a 2010 general election that was boycotted by the party of democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Last year, Thein Sein embarked on a reform program whose main objective was to win the easing of economic sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union against the previous repressive military regime. That goal has already been largely accomplished.

Also as a result of the reforms, the government won the cooperation of Suu Kyi, the once-implacable foe of army rule. Suu Kyi and her National League for Democracy party even agreed to run for parliament in by-elections, snaring 43 seats in last month's polls to play a small but historically significant legislative role.

Along with the revival of parliamentary politics in Myanmar there has been a new assertiveness in civil society, especially in lobbying on environmental issues. One campaign, opposing the Chinese-funded Myitsone hydropower dam on the Irrawaddy River, won an astonishing victory when the government announced the cancellation of the project.

Still, the potential for conflict in Myanmar ? also known as Burma ? lies in the space between the political reforms achieved so far and the shortfall in other fundamental changes, particularly in the economy.

Speaking Tuesday at the opening of a branch office for her party, Suu Kyi said "the country suffers from power shortages because of mismanagement. I believe that the system has to be changed to get electricity or to get water or to get jobs."

The challengers to the government are the same activists who used to struggle against military rule, but are now emboldened by the new democratic opening.

Their antagonist is the same military that smashed their dreams five years ago. Though he came to power through election, Thein Sein heads a government that serves at the sufferance of the military, which together with its civilian allies controls parliament and security affairs.

The immediate prospects for strife are hard to calculate. The protests have been peaceful and relatively unassertive so far, with the crowd in Yangon ? Myanmar's biggest city ? topping out at about 300 on Friday night.

But out of habit, deliberation or misunderstanding, the authorities are clearly nervous. In the central city of Mandalay, Special Branch political police held several protesters briefly for questioning.

On Thursday in the central town of Pyay, police pressure on demonstrators led to a brawl and six arrests. The angered comrades of those detained gathered outside the local prison until the detainees were released, then carried on protesting.

"Police violence encountered during the protests against power cuts shows just how Burma continues to grossly neglect and violate the basic rights to human dignity and freedom of expression," said the Thailand-based Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (Burma), a group that feels reforms have fallen way short of what is desirable. "It is clear that peaceful dissent is still not tolerated."

Others are not so pessimistically inclined.

"The timing of these protests is interesting because the new laws about peaceful assembly are in place and the new government's attitude is different from that of its predecessors," said Australian National University's Wilson. "One would expect both sides to be more reasonable and tolerant now, and early signs are that this seems to be the case."

Thein Sein's reforms included the passage of a bill allowing citizens to stage peaceful demonstrations ? although still-existing security laws continue to put protesters at legal risk.

Myanmar has suffered from power shortages for more than a decade. It has plentiful natural gas supplies, but a poor power distribution infrastructure that has lagged even more as the economy has grown.

Sean Turnell, an economist at Australia's Macquarie University, said he believes what is significant about the current protest movement is "how it highlights the way that economic reform, and the changes that need to be made to make life easier here for the great bulk of people, are seriously lagging."

Up to now, much of Myanmar's natural gas has been earmarked for neighboring Thailand and China, he noted.

"For the previous regime, domestic considerations and the lives of the citizenry (as well as domestic business) took a back seat to the desire to secure foreign exchange," Turnell said. "The current government, I think, is hopeful of doing something better, but at the moment the legacy of the past is weighing on them."

Suu Kyi has endorsed the protests, which have seen demonstrators holding candlelight vigils and marching in public streets.

"However, according to law, you have to ask permission to march in procession," she said. "If people have to get permission to march, everyone should express their feelings by standing in front of their houses with candles in their hands, so that no one can object to it."

Speaking to a large crowd Friday evening as she opened a party branch office in western Yangon, she said a government should be accountable to the people and should apologize if it cannot fulfill their wishes.

At the national level, Myanmar's government has come close to doing just that, retreating into a defensive posture with various explanations in the state-run press seeking to explain the power shortages and spelling out plans to alleviate them. The plea for understanding contrasts sharply with the tone-deaf attitude usually taken by the previous military government.

"The new Myanmar government is likely to be more concerned about the welfare of its citizens, and more disposed to remedy the source of any problem like power shortages," Wilson said. "It might even reverse previous government policies."

NFCC Financial Education Blog ? Using Comic Books to Teach ...

By Jason Alderman

For decades, millions of kids have faithfully followed the adventures of their favorite comic book superheroes like Spider-Man and the X-Men ? sometimes well into adulthood. Although often considered pure escapism, comic books also can serve an educational role ? whether it?s teaching the principles of science, demonstrating right vs. wrong, or even helping kids learn how to read.

Personal financial management is one of those important, yet admittedly dull, subjects parents want to teach their kids, but sometimes avoid ? maybe they feel they don?t know enough about it, or are afraid family financial secrets will be shared on the playground. As I learned firsthand growing up in a household where finances were never discussed, learning about money through the school of hard knocks is mighty unproductive ? and expensive.

As a way to introduce children to basic money concepts in a kid-friendly format, Marvel Comics and my employer, Visa Inc., recently collaborated on a new comic book called Avengers: Saving the Day. The plot follows the world?s most popular superheroes, including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Black Widow, as they learn valuable lessons about managing personal finances while foiling an attempted bank heist by the arch villain, Mole Man.

Ideally, children develop financial skills they?ll need in adulthood while still in school ? things like balancing a checkbook, filing taxes, and managing credit cards. But in reality, despite the increasing number and complexity of financial decisions today?s consumers face, only a handful of states mandate financial literacy courses as a condition for graduating high school.

That?s where comic books can help. As Marvel Comics editor Bill Rosemann explained, ?In an uncertain world, understanding how to save and properly budget your hard-earned money is one of the keys to personal success. The Avengers are not only the world?s greatest heroes, but they also know a thing or three about financial health. After all, Iron Man hasn?t managed his vast wealth of Stark Enterprises by accident, and as Spider-Man learns in this story, you don?t have to be a millionaire to be a saving hero.?

Avengers: Saving the Day was created by a renowned team of Marvel storytellers, including veteran writer James Asmus (Generation Hope) and artist Andrea Di Vito (Avengers Academy) and features a new cover by the legendary Tom Grummett (X-Men Forever). The comic book is available for free, in both print and online editions, at Practical Money Skills for Life, a free personal financial management program run by Visa.

The 16-page comic is being released around the world and is available in Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. A free teacher?s guide with lesson plans suitable for grades 2 to 7 is also available at the site.

Other resources where you can find and learn more about educational comic books and other classroom materials include:

  • The Federal Reserve System, which stocks several free online comic books that explain how banking and monetary systems work.
  • The Jump$tart Coalition, a national coalition of organizations dedicated to improving the financial literacy of kindergarten through college-age youth by providing advocacy, research, standards and educational resources. JumpStart offers hundreds of free and low-cost educational materials.

Comic books aren?t the only kid-friendly way to teach financial literacy. Studies have shown that the key components of good video games ? including immediate feedback, rewards, motivation and goal-setting ? may do a better job of preparing today?s kids for the modern, high-technology, global world in which they live than the more traditional types of learning often found in the classroom. See my previous blog, Video Games Aren?t So Bad After All, to learn more about these studies.

Some of the better free educational video games for various age groups I?ve seen include:

  • Peter Pig?s Money Counter, where kids ages 4 to7 can practice sorting and counting coins with the help of wise Peter Pig.
  • You Are Here, an animated site where 5th through 8th graders wander through a virtual ?mall,? playing games and learning key consumer concepts such as the impact of advertising, how to spot scams and protect personal information.
  • Hands on Banking, which teaches financial basics and smart money management skills, including dedicated sites for teens and younger kids.
  • Financial Football, which combines the NFL?s structure and rules with hundreds of questions of varying difficulty designed to test students? financial knowledge.

Bottom line: Kids learn more when their imagination is engaged, so look for well-designed educational comic books, video games and toys to supplement more traditional learning tools.

This?article is intended to provide general information and should not be considered legal, tax,?or financial advice. It?s?always a good idea to consult a legal, tax,?or financial advisor for specific information on how certain laws apply to you and about your individual financial situation.

Comparison of Nintendo 3DS price | popular video games

The game industry has evolved from the regular and basic handheld video games to three dimensional real time images. Recent addition to the high-end gaming devices is the Nintendo 3DS. This much awaited gaming console was first released in Japan, and later in Europe and North America. Though it has a different set of games offered during the launch in varied regions, the basic hardware remains the same despite the regions.

Nintendo 3DS also caused a slight amount of displeasure during its release due to its pricing.
Inflation has caught up everywhere which includes the gaming industry too. It was announced that the price of the gaming console in the US would be around $249.99. This means it is costlier than Wii by $50 to $70 and DS which costs $149.99 during its launch. Though the Nintendo gaming console was first launched in Japan and other European Countries, the handheld device United States pricing are far better than the former. You can save about $55 on the Nintendo 3DS when you opt to buy in US over Japan. The United Kingdom user?s savings are even more, since the pricing in the United Kingdom depends on the retailers. In other words, the retailers decide the price. Nevertheless, they try to battle and strive to give it for the best possible price. Still, buying in the US is always a better and cheapest option.

The games that go with this gaming console are also costlier in European countries and Japan when compared to the United States. The games available in the US do not exceed $39.99 while the cheapest rate of the games in Europe is between $48.33 and $64.45. The price of the games available in Japan ranges between $58.79 and $74.59. The price of the high end games such as Zelda or Mario would be higher by $10 in the United States, but would be cheaper compared to Japan and the United Kingdom.

Did Sheamus push his luck by shoving John Laurinaitis?

Perhaps World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus is relying a little too much on the luck of the Irish.

In his haste to help John Cena on Monday?s Raw SuperShow, the hotheaded World Heavyweight Champion ?accidentally? plowed over the already-injured Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and General Manager of Raw and SmackDown, John Laurinaitis. (WATCH | PHOTOS)

Unfortunately for The Great White, this was not his first collision with a WWE authority figure. On Super SmackDown Live: Blast from the Past on April 10, Laurinaitis handed down the largest fine in WWE history, charging the Irish Superstar $500,000 for Brogue Kicking referee Chad Patton four days earlier. Additionally, Sheamus was placed on permanent probation, a very precarious position to be in. (FULL STORY)

If ?Big Johnny? reacted so harshly to the physical well-being of WWE?s referees, one can only imagine how seriously he must take his own health and safety, particularly after his grueling WWE Over the Limit victory over John Cena. (PHOTOS)

Sheamus? shove of ?Mr. Excitement? may have been an accident. Or maybe he temporarily let his emotions get the best of him. Either way, it can?t be a good thing for The Great White to have raised the ire of a GM who has shown zero hesitation in handing down fines ? and worse ? to WWE?s Superstars.

Has Sheamus tempted fate one too many times? Has The Celtic Warrior not learned from his past mistakes, does he not care, or is he just too forceful for his own good? The World Heavyweight Champion?s luck might have run out, as this volatile situation is sure to be addressed on SmackDown this Friday 8/7 CT on SyFy.
