Friends, the winds of change are blowing - St. Francis Horse Rescue ...

Some time ago I mentioned that we would be retiring.? I said it would not happen overnight but it would happen.? You might recall that post.

I am not sure how or when it became so clear to us.? We absolutely love our lives here at SFHR.? It has been hard work and heartache but that is taken along with the joy and happiness and the most rewarding endeavor we have ever done as a family and as individuals.? We all take something from the horses here as we give something to them.

I had imagined this being so much more difficult but the truth of the matter is that Bill and I and our family and our friends on our Board of Directors have been talking about this for some time.

This farm is also our private home.? We will probably always have some animals here but we are officially closing St. Francis Horse Rescue at the end of this year.? We will keep our 501c3 status and our license for the next five years to help our adopters and donors and we will be a small sanctuary for now.? The retirees will live out their days here if need be but we will also try to find homes for most of the horses here.?? Emergency or not we will NOT be taking in any new horses.? Of course we have details to work out and this is a bit complicated but we will get through it.? There are qualified rescues out there fully capable of taking in the horses and we are most grateful for them.? Please support a rescue of your choice and help the horses whenever you can.? The need is so great.

Bill and I are lucky to have a large family that we want to reconnect with. ? We have children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews that we want to spend time with.? We are simply just at that age.? We have no regrets here folks.? Everything we have learned from the horses and the people who love them we will take with us and it will be very dear to us.? It is just time.

We have too many wonderful supporters and ?rescue? friends to even attempt to list here.? We have been blessed by all of you and we want to thank each and every one of you for sharing our vision here.

Thank you for your understanding folks.? You can e mail me if you have any further questions.? I expect there will be quite a few! ? It has been a fantastic eight year run and we hope we can continue to keep in touch with you!

Blessings,

Mary, Bill and the gang here
